Wategos Beach

It's only a minute's stroll down to the white sands of Wategos Beach for a refreshing dip in the clear waters. Or you can just take in the stunning views from your own private verandah, complete with dolphins, board riders and even whales on their annual migration.

Wategos Beach History

Wategos Beach is named after the Watego family who came to Byron Bay in the early 1930s. Located at the bottom of the Cape Byron Headland Reserve, this pristine beach is now bordered by luxury holiday apartments and expensive real estate with absolute beach frontage.

Little Wategos Beach

Adjacent to Wategos Beach is the more secluded Little Wategos Beach with access via a comfortable walking path. It's well worth the descent to feel the sand between your toes and admire the breathtaking backdrop of the Cape Byron Headland Reserve.

Australia's Most Easterly Point

Captain Cook first spotted the most easterly point of the Australian mainland as he sailed past Cape Byron on the Endeavour in 1770. A 1km walking track now winds its way up to the Cape Byron lighthouse, with panoramic views at its pinnacle.
